Winter Composting Success Workshop

Winter Composting Success Workshop

It’s Cold, but Your Compost can be Hot!

Join us for a Composting in Winter Workshop at Windham Solid Waste Management District’s Backyard Composting Demonstration Site on Saturday, October 16, 1:30-2:30 pm (Rain date: October 23). We don’t stop generating food scraps just because winter arrives. So, why not compost them and get a jump on your spring garden compost needs! The Winter Composting Success workshop will be conducted by Athena Lee Bradley, and include topics such as: fall prep; winterizing and insulating existing bins/piles; site suggestions; considering different compost systems; winter compost care; indoor composting ideas; and, other winter food scrap diversion options.

We’ll be offering a Jora Tumbler order, a great opportunity to save 40% on the cost of the three models, and get reduced shipping! And, we will have available our newest bin, the Jack’s Composter Tumbler, for $95 and the Earth Machine for $55 (cash or check only). Bring your questions and see you at the workshop!

Featuring a variety of compost tumblers, bins, and tools, WSWMD’s Backyard Composting Demonstration Site is open for self-guided learning during Transfer Station hours. The Demo Site can also be used by garden clubs, schools, community groups, and others who want to offer compost workshops and hands-on learning opportunities. Check the District’s website (WindhamSolidWaste.org) if the weather looks inclement (and the workshop is moved to the rain date) and for more information on the workshops, the bins for sale, and the Demo Site. The workshop will be held at the WSWMD Transfer Station (327 Old Ferry Rd., Brattleboro).
